Deep, bold purple has been named by many fashion insiders as the hue of the season—and now, it’s received the nod of approval from none other than our favorite fashion mermaid, Dua Lipa.

The singer and now actor graced the red carpet at London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square theater today for the world premiere of her new film, Argylle. For the occasion, she dressed in head-to-toe purple—literally—matching her ombré Mardi Gras–purple waves to her sequin Gucci gown. The strapless statement dress was covered in sequins in different shades of purple—violet, Tyrian, burgundy, midnight—and featured a cup bra, a corset bodice that cinched at the waist, and a floor-length skirt featuring a subtle, dark cheetah print.

Lipa let the dress take the spotlight, pairing it simply with a gold choker with a cheetah head at each end, plus a matching gold ring—both by Cartier. Her makeup look was vampy and included a sexy black smoky eye and some soft cold-girl blush.

Lipa stars alongside Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill in Argylle, which tells the story of how “an introverted spy novelist is drawn into the activities of a sinister underground syndicate,” per IMDb. It is her first major role, though the Grammy winner had a couple cameos as Mermaid Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, of course. As in the 2023 blockbuster, Lipa will provide original music for Argylle, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The film’s cast also includes Ariana DeBose, John Cena, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Sam Rockwell. Argylle is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on February 2.
